Mayor Announces First Amendment to Consent Decree

On September 20, Judge John Adams of the US District Court entered the First Amendment to Akron’s Consent Decree for its Integrated Process relating to correction of sewer issues including those related to combined sewer overflows.

This mark the end of months-long negotiations between the City, USEPA, the Justice Department and the State of Ohio, all of whom agreed with the proposal.  Friends of the Crooked River supported the amendment because it resulted in both savings to rate payers and hight water quality.
